what the flux?

What began as MySpace rival Tagworld became swallowed by the voracious Viacom and is now Flux the bodily fluid betwixt the sweaty bodies dancing to that Gossip track and wearing spandex at a house party in a house everyone’s got a key to.

Yeah, that’s a pretty mixed metaphor - but Flux is an interesting concept, hoping to bind the best social networks (and those already in the Viacom stable) together. It’s not released yet so I can’t really give it the whole 2 minute critique, but why have all the facts? The logo is best described as fruity and schizophrenic - yeah we’re all for customizable web pages, but logos? pure gimmickry. Sure it’s user generated, but it’s like a buzzword fell into a room full of execs and they all said execute… DISCLOSURE: I was up before the car thieves had gone to bed in London to get the bacon bloomer (they don’t call it a butty anymore) flight to Barcelona to meet with the team, so wired and tired means bad metaphors!

Flux powers the communities on your favorite websites and lets you take your profile, friends, and
content with you across the social web. Whenever you see the flux logo on a website, you can
join that community with a single click and take all your stuff with you.’

Good copy. 8 out of 10.

In a social network saturated world, we need a quality guide, a signifier, such a feature, which I suspect is not quite what Flux intends, would serve like a kite mark on a box of prophylactics - 99% chance it won’t split. Good fluxing luck to them.

Now Viacom can go flux itself.
